    1. The stages of memories are:
ENCODING: when we are expose to any kind of information. we take the information and begin the processing through visual sematic or acoustic form. (meaning picture or a sound) its is a way understanding and encoding method to remembering information.
to recall the information i usually do self-talk by giving my own meaning to that (specific topic) by using picture or a sound.
STORING INFORMATION: is about keeping the information available that can be recalled at a later point. there are two types of memory short term memory (STM) and long term memory (LTM) the short term memory sometimes lasts only in 30 seconds. while the long term memory can last for years even lifetime or can be recalled as needed.
reading and thinking is more helpful for me to recall the topics.
RETRIEVING INFORMATION: Its a bout recalling the information that has been stored. the retrieval from STM is done by sequently. while the LTM is done by association or by active questioning.
I'm posing a specific code that can aid the retrieval stored information.

    2. I'm always interested in finding new ways to learn better and faster. As a media practitioner a full time researcher. the amount of time I have to spend learning new things is limited. so to become an effective educator, It's important to get the most educational value out of my time as possible. However, retention, recall and transfer are also critical. I need to be able to accurately remember the information I learn, recall it at a later time and utilize it effectively in a wide variety of situations. one of my technique is memory improvement. I've written before about some of the best ways to improve memory. Basic tips such as improving focus, avoiding cram sessions and structuring your study time are a good place to start, but there are even more lessons from psychology that can dramatically improve your learning efficiency.

  2. 1. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give example.

The three phases of memory are encoding, storage and retrieval. One method I have used in encoding information to my memory is the use of patterns and sounds. For example, in Trigonometry, there are functions that are used in solving the parts of a right triangle. These are sine, cosine, and tangent. However, the formulae for these functions cannot be easily remembered so schools have devised the pattern “soh-cah-toa” (read phonetically). “O” stands for the opposite side, while “A” stands for the adjacent side. The second letter is the dividend in the formula, while the last letter is the divisor. Thus, “soh” stands for “sine = opposite / adjacent”. To store this pattern to my long-term memory, I had to continue using the formulae in solving problems. To retrieve the information, I just had to remember the phonetic sound of the pattern and put it on my working memory. Then, I had to write it down to extract the details of the formulae while continuing to search my long-term memory.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?

Personally, as a future educator/teacher, it is important for me to have an intact memory. The things that I am learning now are all useful for my future profession. Therefore, as I study my lessons every day, I have to create strategies that can help me easily store information in my short-term memory and eventually storing them in long-term memory. If I don’t have enough storage of this information, I will have a hard time teaching my students and answering their questions. I will also have difficulty creating a lesson plan because it depends on the scope of my knowledge on the topics I’m going to teach.

Understanding the phases of memory will really help me be an effective educator or teacher because it will affect my students to learn from me effectively. All of the processes of three phases of memory are indispensable to their study. Especially for long-term memory, the students should remember what they have learned in the class until the end of the school years and it is going to be their foundation or prerequisite for learning in the next year level. Therefore, I also have the responsibility to assist them in encoding the information to their memory. I have to provide a lot of strategies for them.

  3. 1. The three phases of memory are: (1) Encoding, which involves the receiving of information; (2) Storage, which involves the retaining of the information obtained; and (3) Retrieval, the withdrawal or extraction of the stored information or idea. In my studies, the first thing I do is, I listen attentively to the lectures of the professor/teacher and the discussions of the entire class, and afterwards I read more about that particular topic. Also I keep records of the information and ideas in separate notebooks I provide for each subject, so that when the time for the preparation for the exam comes, I can easily revisit and study those notes over and over again.

    2. By understanding the three phases of the memory, I can surely guide and assist my students in utilizing the power of the memory and help them realize the importance of memory in the education process. As a teacher, I can help my students in the encoding process through the class discussions, and by giving them lectures and readings as assignment or homework. In terms of the storage process, I can help my students remember and absorb ideas and information by making them read the topics again and again, and also by asking them to provide a notebook for our subject wherein they can record the ideas and information; and also by asking them to make a PowerPoint presentation of specific topics. For the retrieval process, I can help my students extract information or retrieve ideas by giving them quizzes and exams and also by making them perform some classroom activities such as debate or role playing in a skit or competition by groups.

  4. 1. The three phases of memory are:

Encoding – process of acquiring, receiving, processing and combining of information. It is important that in this process, one should have a system of encoding information especially for students with a lot of information that needs to be acquired. In my case, when studying, I use key words so in would be easier for me to recall what I have studied. Also, I always have a dictionary for me to understand difficult terminologies, which I think is also important in encoding information.

Storing – refers to the retention of information, which has been achieved through the process of encoding for a period of time until it is accessed through recall. It is like creation of a permanent record of encoded information. For a student, studying for an examination of different subjects is difficult because of the volume of information that needs stored. When I’m studying, I make reviewers or write notes because I believe that writing notes or reviewers is like reading it twice. It will help me in storing information and it will lessen time for memorization.

Retrieving – also known as recollection or calling back the stored information for use in a process or activity. Retrieval is important in studies because it will tell how well one learned from what he studied. I use familiarization in studying because if I’m quite familiar with what I studied, it will be easier for me to recall or retrieve the information.

    2. To be an effective educator, what you are teaching should be easily acquired, retained and recalled by your students. Understanding the three phases of memory will make me an effective teacher because I can integrate techniques or strategies in my lessons in such a way that it can easily be understood by my students. For example, classroom activities or games can be done so student can play and learn at the same time. This will help them to be competitive, and with these activities, they will have better recall of their lessons.

  5. 1. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give example.
The three Phases of Memory are as follows: Encoding, Storage and Retrieval.
Encoding is the acquisition and consolidation of information. As a nurse educator, it is of prime importance to acquire and utilize the knowledge and skills necessary to impart with my students. In encoding, I utilized different ways of assimilating information to cognitive code by memorization, creating code, and connecting to my past experiences. Through these methods, I can easily store and remember the information/data which of utmost important to my didactic and in the clinical area. Then, this stored data/information will be retrieved thru application in the clinical setting, and giving examples in my lecture.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?
Knowing and understanding the phases of memory will greatly help me to be an effective nurse educator because learning will be easy not only on my part but as well as on my students. Thru lectures, thorough discussion, giving examples, my students will be able to assimilate the topic (and encode them in their memory). By frequent throwing of questions, repetition and review of past lectures, will help my students better store the topic. And at the end of the lecture, giving evaluation exam will indicate how much learning the students acquired.

    1. What are the three phases of memory?

Encoding, the first phase, takes place when a person is exposed to something that the senses can grasp such as information or message. The information is then processed into a code that so that it can be stored and remembered for long term use.

Storing refers to the next phase of memory. It is when the information is kept for future use. The information can either be stored as short-term store (STS) or working memory, or Long-term store (LTS) or permanent store. The stored memory can then be used by applying the next phase called retrieval.

Retrieval, the final phase, is a process where a person makes use of the stored information. It is when the stored information is put into working memory where the person can easily use it.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?

By understanding how memory works, I can then develop teaching strategies and techniques that will help my students remember their lessons more. Aside from the phases of memory, I went over other topics as well such as rehearsal types (maintenance and elaborative), prior knowledge, and many more. I believe that as teachers, we should not be confined to the usual methods of teaching. We should be able to use the vast knowledge available in order for us to aid our students well.
With this knowledge, I can help my students retain information better, help them remember easier and longer, and also make teaching more enjoyable and easier for them.

  7. 1. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give example.

The three phases of memory are encoding, storage, and retrieval. Encoding is the process of converting a message from the environment to a cognitive code so that the information can be stored and later remembered. Storage is the stage where the information is kept on the brain. Retrieval is the process that transfers information from Long Term Store.

When I was a student, I remember I preferred studying at 3:30am because it was quiet and I easily grasped the lessons. The environment should be quiet so that the information would retain in my memory. Aside from this, I repeatedly read my notes so that the information will be stored in my long term memory. This strategy works because until now I still remember those things that I studied. Because of this, I don’t have any problems retrieving the information in my memory. Moreover, I like taking down notes because if I forget something I can easily look on them.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?
As an educator, I have to understand how I should get the information or knowledge so that I can impart this to my students. Teachers should be knowledgeable of the subject matter they teach, so they have to make it sure that the information is kept and stored in their long term memory. Teachers should constantly read to sharpen their memory. One way of storing the information is by taking down notes. As a teacher, I always take down notes so that I can easily refer to it once I forgot something.

  8. Three phases of memory. Describe ways on how you have applied each phases of memory in your studies. Memory is the term given to the structures and processes involved in the storage and subsequent retrieval of information. (Saul McLeod, 2007) The moment we perceive the information, either by visual, auditory or semantic we encode the data. For example, the words in the black board/white board as we saw it we tend to verbally say or visually encode it, it can now be stored and then be retrieve in either sequentially (for short term memory) or by association (for long term memory). In studying, either we perceive the information by visual aids, presentations, videos and etc. We need to focus our attention to it and continually rehearse it (or be expose to it repeatedly) and knowing its importance and organize it for retrieval either again by making notes, practicing answering a question or repetition.
How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator or teacher? Every student realizes that learning is not very useful unless it is retained. (Silverman, 1978) Teachers need to recognized and understand the phases of the memory because it will give an effect to child’s retention. The phases show how information is perceived and it stores. As he teachers, we are one of the facilitator of transferring of knowledge, specifically its significance. During storing of information and retrieval, we can help the students to find techniques to store if for long term and for real life set-up. As quoted by Silverman, the study of memory directs us to search for the variables that account for retention and forgetting. We want to know how learning is retained and what causes it to be forgotten. In seeking answers to these questions, our attention is drawn to the processes of memory.

  9. 1. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give example.

The three (3) phases of memory are encode, store and retrieve.

For example, reading a particular topic, first giving my attention to that reading through the senses and encoding it in my mind. Then, during the process, I sometimes memorize the things that I think is important and because of those the readings will eventually be stored, making it a working memory. And then the time will come that information will be needed during the examinations, this will be time that I need to recall or retrieve that data.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?

As an educator, I should make my lessons easy for the students to understand and easy for them to acquire by giving real life examples and trigger questions during the discussion making it a lively and conducive way of learning. Because of that, the students wouldn't find it difficult to study and encode and store those lessons in them, it would benefit the both of us if we are able to attain those goals; I impart my knowledge with them and they obtain a new knowledge. And then, at the end of the lesson when I give them an exam to evaluate them, they can recall or retrieve what we have discussed with ease.

  10. What are the three stages of phases of memory? describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give example.

    1. Encoding - in my studies i use the visual and acoustic form of encoding. For example, if i am reviewing for an exam, i'm going to read my reviewer which is visual coding then i will say the phrase to myself a couple of times which is acoustic encoding. In that way, I'll be able to memorize and remember the lesson/topic.

    2. Storing - in my studies, i always make sure that i read my notes repeatedly and to make sure that i already memorized everything i will write it down on a piece of paper

    3. Retrieving - in my studies, i have clues in retrieving like hand gestures or sounds so that i'll be able to retrieve information easily

How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?

By understanding the 3Phases of Memory, I'll be able to remember and retrieve the information from my lesson and deliver it to the students the best way I can. Not only that, I'll be able to share to the students the information regarding the 3Phases of Memory which will really help them with their studies especially with their exams for them to get high grades and with that as an educator it will be a big fulfillment.

    1. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies? Give Example.

    Answers:
    a. Encoding - It is the process of putting information in your memory. As a student you can do this listening and paying attention to what the teacher is saying. You jot down notes, ask necessary question for confirmation of correction or validity of the information and make a list of which of these information is more important, necessary or needed your attention immediately.
    b. Storing – It is the stage where the information is in your brain but it is not actively manipulated. It can be short term (STM) or long term in storage in your memory. (LTM)
STM is not recalled easily unless you make necessary action.
Example: Somebody give you her telephone no. Unless you write it or you put it on cellphone phonebook you cannot recall it easily unless you become so familiar with it. On LTM it is the experiences we acquired through the years – from our childhood to adulthood and the knowledge are accumulated from our pre-school days up till we graduate or further studies we made.
    c. Retrieving Information – It is the point wherein you bring a memory out of long term
storage and into your conscious awareness.
Example: The difficulties and struggles about finances for you to be able to graduate. It brings back memories when you see graduation rites. Example: The knowledge learned from childhood to adulthood you recalled it through reading your notes or books again. When you’re still studying your teachers, gives quizzes, or engaged in discussions or implementation on the lessons learned.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory will help you be an effective educator/teacher?
Answer: As the students write her notes on her notebooks on her various subjects the teacher should see to it that the knowledge impart is correct. For her to store it in her memory, the teacher can teach methods wherein they could easily recall it. They can make codes or form certain keywords or acronym words to memorize during enumeration exam for easy recall. The teacher could also find out which method of teaching is more effective to the students. With our new technology, one click of a finger you can get access for the information needed. It is very helpful as a reminder, but of course it is the alertness of the mind that is really needed. Files can also be made, so that if needed you can draw it out and information is in front of you. Your mind is refreshed by it. As a teacher, must encourage the students to go on reading, and don’t be afraid to ask questions for clarification. Do not also be afraid of experiencing pain, happiness, trials, difficulties etc. because through these our personality and character is develop fully. We will have a sharp mind and good memory.

  12. What are the three phases of memory? Describe ways on how you have applied each of the phases of memory in your studies. Give examples

    1. Encoding - the process of putting something into our memory

When teachers would discuss a particular concept in class and present it to the students that is an example of encoding. When we try to read textbooks and analyze what it means is also another example.

    2. Storage - stage where information is in the brain but is not actively manipulated

A plausible example is when we take down important notes or try to memorize ideas.

    3. Retrieval - is the point wherein based on retrieval cues available, one would bring a memory out of long term storage and into the conscious awareness

During examinations retrieval is made use of; it is also shown when we try to make use of mnemonics so as to remember vital information needed.

    2. How can understanding the phases of memory help you be an effective educator/teacher?

By understanding the different phases of memory, I can become a more effective and efficient teacher because I can implement strategies that would make learning easier for my students.

I can make use of interesting visual aids so I can catch their full attention and I can make ideas register in their minds quickly. I can also teach them techniques like that of mnemonics so it can serve as good retrieval cues.

  13. The three phases of memory are encoding, storing and retrieving. Encoding is the process of in which our senses pay attention to a detail in our environment and later Store it in our short term memory then when we saw it again or encounter it again in the future our long term memory while Retrieve it from our short term memory. Through enhancement we can store information in our brain.

As a teacher understanding the information process is an important thing because if you are going to give a test in which the content of that test have not yet encountered by the students then the students will obviously fail the test. Also, to maximized the learning experience of the students you should make follow ups with the previous lesson to enhance or to make them familiarize them.
