  1. I am anti RHbill, why? Simply because i believe in the saying that everything has its own purpose. If a person decided to have sex with someone if it's already time for her to conceive a baby it will happen and it is against God's will for you to abort an innocent child.

Just think of all the good things a baby can bring though there are also negative things but what is important is all the blessings a person may receive through that child.

  2. I am against to RH Bill because it only suggests that anyone who wants to have sex can do it without bearing any responsibility. Anyone especially the youth and adults will have a negative mentality: “I can have sex without getting pregnant.” Just thinking about it… it’s not right especially when it is a pre-marital sex.

If you do something, then you should take responsibility. Be disciplined enough and don’t be selfish. Also think the other people involved.

  3. The main objective of RH Bill is to educate the public on responsible parenting and reproductive health and to have universal access (especially the poor) to affordable, effective, legal and safe reproductive health care supplies, devices and services. It is not actually encouraging or legalizing abortion since the idea is to prevent the conception. Sounds effective since our population is fast increasing each year but still, I am against RH Bill.

RH Bill violates the moral standards specifically procreation which should be done after the blessing of the church. A couple who's not yet ready to have a child can always choose natural method and not rely on contraceptives. RH Bill, in my opinion, will not teach us to be responsible parents by acting irresponsibly. Also, it will encourage premarital sex.

Question in Blog #4 Do you agree with the RH Bill or not. Please briefly describe your position. Limit your answer to 2 paragraphs.
    Answer:
I am Pro-Reproductive Health Bill. I agree that the state should upholds and promotes responsible parenthood, informed choice, birth spacing and respect of life.
This is very practical and have good benefits for the mother. The couples can decide the number of their children. They can also space their children so that the mother can recover her body before she decide again to have another child. If couples have a small family, parents can have the ability to better support them financially. They can give them the opportunity to go to school, to eat nutritious food, give a comfortable and secure place to stay, to be clothe and give them the love, time, and attention the children usually needs on their growing up years.
A Reproductive Health Education can be implemented so that the couples can acquire complete, accurate and relevant information about sex education and sensitive issues about contraception and abortion.
Having a manageable population of healthy educated and productive children can lead to progress for our country- better lives and better opportunities.

  5. I am pro-RH Bill; I believe that it safeguards women specifically their health and well-being. As humans, God gave us the gift of free will therefore we have the right to choose and exercise it.

I also believe that the RH Bill is a plausible answer towards the country's booming population. Couples would have an insight about responsible parenthood - they can choose on what will suit and work for them best when it comes to family planning.

  6. In today’s generation, the RH bill could help the people awaken their awareness in the modern society. People’s lack of understanding and consciousness on what is happening around, may lead a lot of young minds to make wrong decision because they only had limited option. Therefore, I would like to stand as pro RH Bill since I believe on the several benefits it would do to the younger people and fellow women. Example of this is the health risks associated with untimely and unwanted pregnancies among adolescent mothers as they are more likely to have complications during labor. Another, is the risk of illness and premature deaths that are happening to mother and child alike due to the too many and too closely-spaced children the mother had.

We have been ignoring the real condition on the issue of sex to the Philippine society, maybe this is the time that we have to put aside our misconception on the RH BILL Law and open the eyes of the people to the advantages that it may bring rather than creating negative thinking or ideas on the law that have not been practicing yet. Although, there are cons on applying the RH bill law, I still believe that this law is more suited nowadays base from all the changes and technology that this generation has.

  8. I have read somewhere that why should we listen to people who are celibate by choice on how to educate us in our sex life, funny but true. I am a catholic by choice and has been practicing it for as long as I can remember, the fact that being religious does not prohibit me from understanding what the true purpose of this law, I am completely capable of thinking what is right and wrong but that does not necessarily mean that what is right is good and vice versa in my beliefs. What I learned from my GMRC and theology subjects from primary school to tertiary are etched in my brain, in my way of life, in my choices and I believe that the government and sectarians should have faith in its citizen in making the morally correct choice. This law will jumpstart us to follow the set guide lines of living life morally and comfortably. It may not be generally accepted by the public now but in the future it will surely be a great help for our society.

Change is the only constant thing in this world, times are definitely changing in a terrifying phase. We as humans are adapting to every situation, this is key to our perennial search for prosperity.

  9. I absolutely agree with the RH Bill. One major factor that contributes to the problems of our country (unemployment, heavy traffic, garbage disposal, floodings, poverty, etc.) is indeed overpopulation. We can obviously notice the population explosion in the slums or the areas where the poorest families are informally residing. One purpose of this RH Bill is to educate these underprivileged individuals on family planning and responsible parenthood. Our government must do its share in educating our citizens on population control and one way of achieving this is through the RH Bill.

Controlling the population through family planning methods, either by natural or artificial means, is not evil and immoral. Irresponsible parenthood, on the other hand, is what is evil, immoral, unacceptable, and appalling. Let me make it clear, though, that I am against abortion. Contraception is entirely different from abortion. Using pills and condoms are for the purpose of preventing pregnancy while abortion is the deliberate termination of the pregnancy by ending the conceived child’s life. The RH Bill upholds contraception and doesn’t promote abortion, because abortion is evil, unethical, and immoral.

  10. I don’t agree with the RH Bill because I believe that it doesn’t solve the actual problems in the Philippines. Since the Philippines only has a very limited budget, it should be allotted to the more important problems such as unemployment, lack of education, and health. Giving funds for things such as contraception and sex education would mean a decrease in the budget of the main needs of the country. I believe that these topics are too sensitive and that they should be taught with extreme discretion, so as not to prematurely stimulate the curiosity of the young (and innocent) people.

Moreover, I disagree with this bill because I believe that the progress of the country relies on the people. The people provide income and productivity to the economy. They are the ones making the decisions and not money or charts. In addition, the issue of overpopulation may not be a very serious issue anymore because the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of the Philippines has declined by more than 50% in less than 50 years: from an average rate of 7 in 1960 to an average rate of 3.1 in 2012.

  11. I am not in favor of the Reproductive Health Bill because I am a Catholic who always follows the teaching of the church. If the church says no to this bill, then I must believe them because their decisions and actions are guided by the Almighty God. The church is infallible because their wisdom comes from Him.
Aside from this, one of the features of this bill is the widespread distribution of condoms to every Filipino family. Giving condoms is like allowing people to have sex with anyone. Sex is sacred; it is only for married couple. It seems that this bill would create so much chaos to the country.

  13. The Reproductive Health bill or popularly known as RH bill is aiming to guarantee universal access to methods and information on birth control and maternal care. If a person is responsible enough for to prevent the massive growth of our country's population they will be able to understand the purpose of this Bill. I am in favor of this Bill. I am also a Catholic but being a Catholic I also have the love for my country. And I believe that this bill aims for controlling the massive growth of our population nowadays.

Although I am a Catholic, I will never close my door to the idea of giving solutions to our country's never ending problem. And this Bill I believe, could be the first step in solving our problem. I believe that Catholic church also teaches us to give love to our parents, friends as well as to our fellow countrymen.

  14. I don’t agree with RH Bill because there are statements that are inviting to commit sexual act. They said Contraceptives as Essential Medicine; with these it’s encouraging to use contraceptives such as condoms, diaphragm, intrauterine device and etc. Contraceptives do not give an assurance of protection nor birth control. It would give a result of wrong connotation, to do sex for pleasure. This gave a chance to be exposed on sexually transmitted diseases and over population. But this is not it. God design it differently. Sex is sacred and for married couple because it deals with great responsibilities having a child. This is not to insult the people who had child at early age, what I am trying to say, they knew how hard it is to have a great responsibility at an early age. The moral studies would fit in because the idea was to abstain to prevent further problems.
Thus, it is promoting to engage in sexual act, causing them to engage in responsibility that sometimes they are not prepared which results to have emotional crisis then made decision to commit abortion as solution. I know that RH Bill has its positive mission. I am open with this bill and trust our leaders.

  15. , the reproductive health bill is another way to empower the women and to give them the choice of method they are comfortable with. Another thing is that the bill will provide a safe and affordable contraceptives and medical assistance that most of our countrymen cannot afford. Contrary to the beliefs of other that the bill will only facilitate abortion, the bill does not condone any act or way of abortion. Furthermore the bill will empower the protection of a child against cruelty, abuse and lack of proper care, because of the universal access of the services that the bill will provide then our fellow countrymen will no longer bare unwanted pregnancy. Pregnancies that are unwanted sometimes results to hatred and violence against the born child, as stated above. Plus let us face the reality that our country is already been over populated, the proofs of this can be seen all over Metro Manila in which illegal squatting in the waterways and other private and publicly owned lands are usual. If our fellow citizens would only be educated and given a universal access of medical services needed then our country will no longer have minor street children and out of school youths.
So I cast my vote for the implementation of the reproductive health bill in our country. It is about time that we act for the benefit of our future generations. Generations of responsible parents who values the feelings and takes note of the dangers lying on conceiving a baby.

    ASSIGNMENT #4: RH BILL

Do you agree with the RH Bill or Not? Describe your position.

As a person and a solid Roman Catholic, I personally opposed the implementation of the RH Bill. If to remove the meritorious platitudes and strip this bill to its essentials, one can vividly see the impending dangers in House Bill No. 5043. One of which is the right for life or the right to live. There has been a debate up to now about when life starts? Some says upon union of the egg and sperm cells while others say that life starts upon implantation in the uterus. Whatever and whenever life starts, still one cannot refute that RH Bill does not respect this right for life. All of us are children of GOD and made in the image and likeness of HIM. Protection and care should be given from the moment of conception up to its natural death.

Another aspect is the how the term, “responsible parenthood” is used in this bill. The term has been twisted to mean that responsible parents are those who have one or two children only. Children are gifts from GOD. Children give meaning to our Christian lives and inspire parents to strive harder and have goals in life. The bills assume that a nation’s population hinders its development that is why they push for the promotion of a two-child policy, massive distribution of contraceptives, sex education (to acquaint young people with contraception), and sterilization, all of which make use of taxpayers’ money. I believe that population is not an obstacle to economic development of a country. Several research studies have been conducted, such as the UN Population Fund Consultative Meeting of Economists (1992), signifying that a more rapid population growth, if properly managed, will promote economic development.
